Helene M. Downey of Ridley Park died on January 29, 2009 at Taylor Hospice House. Mrs. Downey was born in Philadelphia the daughter of the late James H. and Lauretta M (nee Lambdin) Schoen. Elizabeth “Betty” L. Sweeney nee Howe, a longtime resident of Chester died January 25 at Wallingford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Betty was born in Ringgold, MD the daughter of the late Russell and Bessie nee Gladhill Howe. Patricia Ann Sweeney, 48, of Chester died January 24, 2009 at Crozer Chester Medical Center after a long and brave battle with major medical complications. She was born in Chester the daughter of Elizabeth L. nee Howe who died January 25, 2009 and the late Charles P. Sweeney (1/13/98). Patty graduated from St. Robert School and the former Notre Dame High School in 1978. She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Church. George A. Williams, 81, of Folsom died January 21 at Crozer Chester Medical Center. Mr. Williams was born in Philadelphia the son of the late Charles F. and Mary nee Morris Williams. He had been a resident of Folsom for 19 years previously living in Prospect Park. Mr. Williams attended St. Monica School in South Philadelphia. He was employed as a clerk for the Pennsylvania Railroad, then Penn Central and Conrail for 58 years retiring in 1986. Josephine M. nee Carroll Costa, 84, of Upland died January 21, 2009 at Little Flower Manor in Darby. Mrs. Costa was born in Chester, the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Kathleen nee Farrlley Carroll and attended Immaculate Heart of Mary School. She had lived in Upland for 46 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Charity Church and the Charitans at Our Lady of Charity and was also a member of the Del-Chester Serra Club. more…
