Mary E. Seman, 69, of Brookhaven formerly of Chester died Saturday March 21, 2009 in Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Mary was born in Chester the daughter of the late Joseph A. & Elizabeth (nee Mahoney) Keenan. Mary was a graduate of St. Robert Elementary School, Notre Dame High School Class of 1957, and Immaculata College Class of 1961. Ms. Seman has been a resident of Brookhaven for the past 25 years. Agnes C. Lista of Wallingford died March 20 at Riddle Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Lista was born in Philadelphia, the daughter of the late Georgio and Julietta nee Fantini Ciliberti. She graduated from South Philadelphia High School. Mrs. Lista had been a resident of Wallingford for 20 years previously living in Springfield. She was employed at Boeing Vertol Co. for several years, then as the office manager for Donze Kitchens for 25 years retiring in 1984. more…
Dorothy M. Day of Glen Riddle, died on March 16, 2009 at Riddle Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Day was born in Chicago, IL the daughter of the late John and Mary (nee Garcia) Brennan. Mrs. Day has been a resident of Delaware County for over 50 years. She formerly lived in Wallingford prior to moving to the Residence at Glen Riddle. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Chicago. Mrs. Day was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who made her family the most important part of her life. more…
ABERNATHY, Margaret R., M.D. Margaret Roberts Abernathy, born March 23, 1926, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 16, 2009. She was born in Washington, D.C., to Floyd Roberts and Catherine Dooley Roberts. She and Brad Abernathy were married on October 30, 1947, and had a long and happy marriage, a true partnership of two people who were made for each other, which did not end until Brad’s death in June of 2002. Dr. Abernathy attended undergraduate and graduate school at Catholic University of America, Northwestern University, and the American University. She taught briefly in the Washington Public School System and at Catholic University. She began medical school at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond (one of only two women in her class), on the same day her youngest daughter started first grade. She graduated with an M.D. degree in June of 1964, thus fulfilling her lifelong dream of becoming a doctor. more…
Lenora A. Synovec of Wallingford died on Saturday March 14, 2009 at. home. Mrs. Synovec was born in Chester the daughter of the late Patrick and Nora (nee O’Malley) McGreal. Mrs. Synovec attended the former Resurrection of Our Lord School and was a graduate of the former Notre Dame High School in Moylan, class of 1938. more…
